Problem
Emmanuel was referred to us via Lambeth Councils NEET team as his mothers concerns were growing due to her sons lack of
motivation to go into education or apply for work. He was adamant that further education was not for him and he didn't feel
like he had the guidance and support to help him find out what his interests were.
What we did
We worked with him for 6+ months and supported him with the following:
- Aspirations and confidence building
- Enrolled him on to our summer employability programme
- Job readiness support
- CV creation/development
- Work experience at a global technology software company
- Education and awareness around four pillars: careers, health, finance, family & friends.
Outcome
Emmanuel has really found confidence in himself to the point where while he was on work experience, he presented to the
whole marketing department regarding what things can be done to improve their marketing strategy and reach out to more
diverse customers. He is also awaiting a decision from the company to see if they will take him on as a Business Development Intern for 6 months fully paid starting early 2024.
Problem
Camron came through to us via his mum as he was on a Youth Conditional Caution YCC for dealing class A and B drugs. He wasn't engaging with any professionals and was frequently being reported as missing.
What we did
We worked with him for 8+ months and supported him with the following:
- Creating his barbershop business logo;
- Getting him to have a day in the life' experience with a popular barber, visiting his shop and seeing how he runs his business;
- CV creation;
- Education and awareness around four pillars: careers, health, finance, family and friends.
Outcome
Camron operates as a self-employed barber now and decided to move out of the area as he is 18 and living independently. He
successfully completed his work with us and complied with the terms of his YCC.
